Ahmed Abu Zeid, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, made a phone call with the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on Monday.
During the phone call, Shoukry offered condolences to the government and the people of Turkey for the victims of the horrific earthquake that Turkey was exposed to.
He conveyed his sincere wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman stated that the Foreign Minister notified his Turkish counterpart that Egypt decided to direct urgent relief aid in solidarity with the Turkish state and the brotherly Turkish people in facing the repercussions of that disaster, wishing the success of the ongoing rescue efforts.
Abu Zeid concluded his remarks, noting that the Turkish Foreign Minister received Sameh Shoukry's call with appreciation and gratitude, expressing his country's thanks for the solidarity shown by Egypt with Turkey in this horrific disaster.
It is worth noting that Abu Zeid stated that the consular sector of the ministry is in contact around the clock with Egypt's embassies in Ankara and Damascus to find out the conditions of the Egyptians following the devastating earthquake that hit the two countries.
The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Egyptian embassies in Ankara and Damascus continue to communicate with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries and the local authorities, to check on the conditions of Egyptians in the two countries.
