On Thursday, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry held a telephone conversation with his German counterpart Heiko Maas to discuss bilateral ties and a number of regional files, according to the Egyptian foreign ministry's spokesman Ahmed Hafez.
In a statement, the spokesman said that, Shoukry, during the talks, expressed Egypt's aspiration to resume the German tourism flow for Egyptian tourist destinations, taking into account the efforts adopted by all concerned Egyptian ministries to ensure the safety of tourists coming to the country,
The two top diplomats re-affirmed their intention to develop bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially the economic relations by pushing forward the movement of trade exchange between Egypt and Germany.
Shoukry and Mass tackled a number of regional files, especially the situation in Libya, stressing the need to preserve Libya's stability, unity and its territorial integrity, in addition to rejecting any attempts of foreign interference in its internal affairs.
They also underlined the importance of reaching a comprehensive political solution based on the outcomes of the Berlin Conference and the Cairo Declaration, as well as the necessity of providing all possible support for rebuilding the Libyan state and its institutions.
The talks also touched on developments related to the Palestinian issue, as the two ministers discussed efforts to revive the peace process and restore the negotiation track between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, with the aim of reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue based on the relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
