Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry discussed in a phone call on Tuesday the current developments in Sudan with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, according to Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Abu Zeid.
The phone call addressed efforts to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Sudan to prevent further bloodshed, according to Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Abu Zeid.
The two officials discussed the humanitarian situation in Sudan as well as the ways to support neighbouring countries who are receiving displaced Sudanese citizens, Abu Zeid continued.
The EU representative expressed appreciation for Egypt’s efforts to reach a ceasefire in Sudan since its very beginning, Abud Zeid added.
Borrell also praised the Egyptian efforts to evacuate Europeans and other foreign nations through its territories in addition to hosting Sudanese citizens in its lands.
Finally, the two officials agreed to maintain communication in order to reach a solution to the crisis.
