Moments ago, the Kuwaiti cabinet called Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al Sabah, the crown prince, as the new Emir of Kuwait after the death of Sheik Nawaf Al Ahmed Al Gaber Al Sabah.
In a post on X, the Kuwaiti cabinet declared calling the crown prince, Sheikh Mesheel Al Ahmed Al Sabah, as the new Emir of Kuwait.
The calls for the crown prince to become the new Emir were based on the constitutional codes of Kuwait that were dedicated to the inheritance of the Emiri crown.
The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Sabah, passed away at the age of 86, Kuwaiti state TV announced on Saturday.
“With great sadness and sorrow, we — the Kuwaiti people, the Arab and Islamic nations, and the friendly peoples of the world — mourn the late His Highness the Emir, Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, who passed away to his Lord today,” Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al Sabah, the minister of his Emiri court, said in a statement.
In late November, Sheikh Nawaf was rushed to hospital for an unspecified illness. State-run news previously reported that he traveled to the United States for medical checks in March 2021.
