Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that if his country does not accept the Franco-German proposal to resolve the conflict with Kosovo, the process of integration into the European Union (EU) in the country will stop.

Vucic added, in a speech to the nation, reported by the Balkan News Network, which specializes in the affairs of Eastern Europe and Eurasia, that "the change in geopolitical conditions contributed to the adoption by Western countries of a harsher approach towards Serbia and the Kosovo issue."

Vucic revealed that he was told during the meeting with 5 international representatives a few days ago that "Serbia must accept the plan, otherwise it will face opposition to its integration process with the European Union, the interruption and withdrawal of foreign investment, and comprehensive economic and political measures that will cause great harm to the country."

The Serbian president had alluded a few days ago to the possibility of reaching an agreement on the normalization of strained relations between Belgrade and Kosovo, but he acknowledged his reservations on "one important issue", which is the recognition of Kosovo as an independent state.
