Senegal will receive a new COVID-19 vaccine patch soon through the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) program, UNICEF announced on Thursday.
The second patch consisted of 184,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses. All of them were denoted by France to support COVAX's efforts in distributing vaccines to poor countries.
COVAX, and Gavi target to secure at least two billion COVID-19 vaccine doses to low-income countries by the end of the year.
Senegal will be one of the earliest countries in Africa that received its second shipment through the global WHO-backed program.
The first shipment received by the state consisted of 324,000 doses and it arrived last March.
