The security establishment in Israel was shaken thoroughly after the fleeing six Palestinian prisoners today dawn.

The Israeli Prison Authority (IPA) delayed the process of counting the prisoners by an hour and a quarter after it received a report at one o'clock in the morning from a driver that there were "suspicious" people running in the fields.

Investigations revealed that only at 3:25 am the disappearance of the first three prisoners in ward No. 2, was discovered, and half an hour later the disappearance of the other three was discovered.

The security establishment was informed at four in the morning of the disappearance of the Palestinian prisoners.

It should be noted that 6 Palestinian prisoners managed at dawn today, Monday, to escape from the Israeli "Gilboa" prison, through a tunnel dug under the prison, and despite the Israeli authorities' use of security and military units, helicopters, and drones to pursue them, they have not been found so far.

Israeli media, quoting police sources, reported that among the escaped prisoners were 5 from the "Islamic Jihad" movement and another from the "Fatah" movement. Large numbers of police forces were called to the area, using drones and helicopters, to search for the fugitives.

It is believed that the six dug a tunnel they used to escape from Gilboa prison, and were reported missing around 4 am.

Hebrew media websites published pictures of the tunnel they said they dug and through which they managed to escape, and pictures of the identities of the six fleeing people.

A senior official in the Israeli security apparatus said that the Palestinian prisoners who escaped from prison today, Monday, are likely to have been dispersed and that some of them may have managed to enter Jordan.

However, the Israeli army announced tightening control of crossing points and spreading on the border with Jordan to prevent the escape of fugitive prisoners. The head of the Security Operations Division announced raising the level of security alert throughout Israel.

After 6 Palestinian prisoners escaped from the Israeli Gilboa prison, today, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz ordered the army to reinforce its presence at the border crossings and seam points.

The army has also reinforced its presence on the Israeli-Jordanian border in an attempt to prevent them from fleeing to Jordan.

The Israeli Defense Minister considered, "What happened is serious, and all security services are required to act."

Following the escape of the six Palestinian prisoners, the Israeli army summoned two combat squads and two companies of special units, to help track down the prisoners who escaped from Gilboa prison.
