According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), which cites IRNA, a delegation from Saudi Arabia has arrived in Iran to discuss the procedures for reopening the kingdom's embassy in Iran.
The group will also talk on the reopening of the Saudi consulate in northeast Iran's holy city of Mashhad, according to the SPA.
With the two countries' agreement to resume diplomatic ties after more than seven years on March 10, 2023, under a deal mediated by China, this is the first trip by a Saudi team to Iran.
The agreement was signed by Saudi Arabia's and Iran's top security officials.
The foreign ministers of the two nations then met for the first official time since the accord was negotiated by China on Thursday, April 6 in Beijing.
The top diplomats concurred to follow up on plans to reopen their embassies in their respective nations and, among other things, to make it easier for Iranian and Saudi nationals to obtain visas.
