Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, has been in telephonic discussions with Ireland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defense Michael Martin, Portugal’s Minister of Foreign Affairs João Gomes Cravinho, and Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide, appreciating their countries' vote for the United Nations resolution last Friday.
The resolution aims for an immediate ceasefire and an urgent humanitarian truce in the besieged Gaza Strip.
During the discussions, they explored ways to support efforts to deliver humanitarian, relief, and medical aid, which is crucial to prevent the worsening of the humanitarian crisis.
They also deliberated on the ramifications of the continued escalation of military operations in and around Gaza, and the distress it causes to the unarmed civilians.
The Saudi Foreign Minister stressed the importance of the international community's role in stopping the escalation, preventing the forced displacement of Gaza's residents, and working towards an immediate ceasefire.
He urged for collective efforts to prevent bloodshed, protect unarmed civilians, and find a fair and comprehensive political solution to the Palestinian issue, aligning with international peace and security.
The engagements underscore Saudi Arabia's concerted efforts alongside international counterparts to address the escalating crisis in Gaza, promoting a unified stance for the restoration of peace and the alleviation of humanitarian distress in the region.
