 Saudi Arabia to Stage World's Most Expensive Horse Racing

The Club of Equestrian in Riyadh, the capital city of Saudi Arabia Kingdom ( SAK), is going to stage the first version of the Saudi Cup for horse racing on February 29.

The contesting horses and their jockeys will compete on the Hippodrome of King Abdul Aziz in Riyadh.

The contest will be organised under auspices of King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, Monarch of the SAK and his Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense.

Prince Bandar bin Khalid Al Fayal, President of Club of Equestrian in Riyadh, stated that this event will convey to the world the civilized scene in the kingdom, not only of sports but also at all walks of life.

The race will also mirror the various facets of modernized life in the country along with the flourishing economy and progress at all fields within the frame of the vision of 2030.

The prince is welcoming guests to come to the kingdom from all parts of the globe, affirming that the best horses, jockeys, and instructors from all over the world compete in that international event.

He reveals that prizes in that competition are the highest in the world; the prizes are about $ 29.2 million.

Hippodrome of King Abdul Aziz had hosted for many years numerous races and other important sports events. It plays a great role in activating that industry in a healthy atmosphere and an encouraging environment in the kingdom.

However, the participating of international jockeys represents a new era in the history of that sport in the kingdom.

The prince added that the Saudi authorities plan to upgrade the local and international races to take part in making the civilized event along with another prominent events to be held in the Saudi Arabia Kingdom.

He affirmed that the events put the kingdom in a suitable place for the international map of sports.
