Mohamed Salah showed up as Liverpool postponed their qualification for the Uefa Champions League knockout phase after holding a 1-1 draw against Napoli at Anfield on Wednesday.

Salah did not participate with the Reds in Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League due to his ankle injury.

Mertens had given his side the lead in the 21st minute when Giovanni di Lorenzo played a long ball forward, with Mertens racing onto it and breaking the offside trap to fire a right-foot shot past Alisson.

The referee checked the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) because Van Dijk went down injured after colliding with Mertens, but the goal stands.

Lovren rocked the Anfield stadium by netting the equalizer when he sneaked into the box and powered home a brilliant header from the penalty spot.

Salah came close to net the equalizer in the 60th minute when he unleashed a left-foot shot from the inside of the box kept away by Napoli's keeper.

In the other Group E match, RB Salzburg kept their hopes alive in qualifying for the knockout phase after thrashing Genk.
