Safety of Egyptians in Libya "Top Priority", Says Deputy FM

Ambassador Nabil Habashi Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs confirmed that the Ministry is closely monitoring the situation of its citizens residing in Libya, in light of the security developments and incidents taking place in some Libyan regions, particularly the capital, Tripoli.

The Deputy Foreign Minister indicated that under the directives of the minister, an operations room has been formed, with the participation of all relevant sectors within the ministry, to closely monitor the conditions of Egyptians in Libya, check on their well-being, receive any distress calls from them, respond immediately to their requests, and provide them with safety through communication with all parties.

He emphasized that the safety and security of Egyptians is the state's top priority in dealing with these developments, and that the Egyptian authorities are prepared to deal with any emergency.

He added that numerous means of communication have been made available to Egyptians in Libya to inform the Egyptian Embassy or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cairo of any circumstance or problem facing any Egyptian citizen in Libya. He noted that he personally maintains contact with numerous individuals and groups of Egyptians, checking on their lives and other affairs.

He urged Egyptians in Libya to exercise caution, stay away from areas of conflict, adhere to the instructions of the Libyan authorities, and promptly contact the Egyptian Embassy if any of them are exposed to any danger.
