A team of Russian scientists is developing a biological DNA chip that will simplify testing for the Coronavirus.

According to what was published by the website of the "Russian Consumer Protection Agency (RCPA)", a study was conducted by the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, known as "Blokhina, to develop such a chip.

The document published by RCPA indicated that work is underway to create a smart biochip prototype to indicate the actual pathogens of acquired pneumonia, including the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

The chip is designed to characterize clearly the main features of the pathogenic structure, of acquired pneumonia, taking into account which DNA biochip prototype will be developed."

Specialists have participated in the research and development of multimedia biosensors for the rapid detection of biomarkers, viruses, and microorganisms for several years.

The researchers are also studying the diagnosis of biomarkers of acute heart attacks, stress, and the coronavirus using peptides. Virologists have developed the scientific and technological foundations for creating such chips to identify and test pathogens.

Also, the experts of the Nizhny Novgorod Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology confirmed, in exclusive statements to “Sputnik”, a Russian news agency, that the smart chip that was revealed yesterday, is capable of detecting the emerging coronavirus, will not be implanted in the human body.

The Russian experts stressed that the chip developed by Russian scientists will only be used in laboratories to determine the degree of infection in the biomaterials used that are obtained from the samples.

Yesterday Russia reported 24,633 new coronavirus cases and 719 deaths as the country battles the surging Delta variant.

Starting July 19, Moscow restaurants will no longer require a QR code proving one's vaccination, immunity, or negative test results to dine indoors, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced Friday.

Most service sector businesses in Moscow met a Friday deadline to ensure 60% of their workforce received the first dose of a coronavirus vaccine, the capital’s coronavirus taskforce said. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced he would give employers who fell short another week until July 22 to meet the requirement.
