Russian Official: Sanctions against Russia Based on ‘Lies’,’ Hypocrisy’

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister (FM) Alexander Pankin announced on Wednesday that the sanctions imposed against Russia are ‘unfair’.

“Today, Russia is facing unprecedented sanctions pressure, and this is unfair, as it is based on lies and hypocrisy,” he said.

“We call to join efforts to build a more equitable economic world order,” he added, noting that the cause of the current problems in world economic development is an ‘unfair economic system,’ reinforced by the unwillingness of Western countries to reconsider the current financial system, which narrows the rights and interests of countries.

Moreover, Pankin stressed that this system prevents developing countries from the possibility of moving to a new stage of development, pointing out that the current models of economic relations make the well-being of entire regions of the world dependent on the economic growth of economically developed countries.
