Russian Foreign Minister (FM) Sergey Lavrov, in a phone call with his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan, emphasized the urgent need to halt hostilities between Iran and Israel and to prevent further escalation that could lead to unpredictable and severe consequences for the entire region.
According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, reported by TASS News Agency, the two ministers exchanged views on the unprecedented escalation in the Middle East, particularly regarding Israel’s military operations against Iran.
Turkish FM expressed his country’s deep appreciation for Russia’s willingness to engage in mediation efforts aimed at promoting mutually acceptable solutions to the ongoing disputes between the two sides, including those related to Iran’s nuclear program, within the framework of a sustainable negotiation process.
The Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the phone call was initiated by the Turkish side.
