A number of Israeli military correspondents were quoted by Russia Today saying that there were a large number of incidents of the Israeli army shooting at Israeli soldiers in other units during the fighting in the Gaza Strip.
Israeli journalist Amos Harel said, "Incidents of friendly fire, shooting by our forces at our forces, or as it is known in the Israeli army as (bilateral fire), are completely ignored by the (Israeli) media."
Harel added, "Israeli units move with great intensity and in great danger, and the large use of fire also leads to mutual danger between the forces.
He revealed that there are incidents related to fatigue after weeks of prolonged activity and quite a few problems resulting from failure to adhere to military discipline."
The "Seventh Eye" website quoted military correspondents as saying that the reason for not addressing the killing and wounding of Israeli soldiers by Israeli forces’ fire is related to caution and sensitivity towards the families of the dead soldiers.
The Israeli correspondents point out that the abstention from publishing is not absolute, and that it is in the later stages and after the completion of the investigation.
