Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko stated that Moscow is ready to cooperate in the establishment of nuclear power plants in Vietnam.

"Russia is ready to participate and assist Vietnam if a decision is made to build nuclear power plants of high or low power," Chernyshenko pointed out on Friday.

Chernyshenko highlighted that nuclear power could play an important role in ensuring Vietnam’s energy sovereignty.

"Such a decision will allow Vietnam to come close to achieving the goal of climate neutrality," he noted.

The Russian diplomat, who is currently on a working visit to Vietnam, met with the leaders of the country’s nuclear energy sector at the Atomic Energy Institute of Vietnam on the sidelines of the Russian-Vietnamese intergovernmental commission’s meeting.
