Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization "NATO" is striving to find an external enemy to justify its existence.
Lavrov added that claims promoted by the Western alliance are "stupid and shameful", explaining that the continuation of NATO, in general, has lost any meaning after the disappearance of the "Warsaw Pact" and the Soviet Union.
Lavrov's statement came during a meeting with students and faculty members of Belarusian State University in Minsk on Friday.
The Russian minister affirmed that NATO no longer hides that the alliance's next "line of defense" intends to draw in the South China Sea.
He continued: Now they say that NATO should acquire a global dimension in terms of responsibility for security around the world.
He said NATO as it talks about the Indo-Pacific region, this term was invented specifically in an attempt to draw India also into their sphere, noting that the final documents of the summit
The latest NATO meeting in Madrid classifies China as the "main, systemic and long-term challenge" for the alliance.
