Today, Tuesday, Russia's Foreign Ministry announced that Russia does not currently plan to send its armed forces to the Donetsk and Lugansk republics.
It is worth noting that the separatists in the two regions in eastern Ukraine receive political and military support from Russia.
The statements of the Russian Foreign Ministry came from Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko, who said, "Let's be optimistic, this will not happen, but in the event of a specific threat, Moscow will provide assistance in accordance with the ratified agreement, which is to send Russian military forces to eastern Ukraine."
In the same context, Rudenko said that Moscow is not afraid of the US and European sanctions because of the recognition of the republics of Donetsk and Lughansk, noting that his country welcomes negotiations with European countries in Ukraine.
Rudenko also considered that Moscow does not want to sever relations with Kiev, but the latter is trying to do so through its measures and policies towards Russia.
On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the decrees recognizing the republics of Lugansk and Donetsk, and called on the State Duma and the Federal Assembly to immediately recognize them.
