The head of the Russian arms company, "Rosoboronexport", Alexander Mikheev, confirmed today (Thursday) that the partnership was offered to some Middle Eastern countries in the Gulf region in the arms industry, including the manufacture of the modern fighter " Checkmate ."
"We are working today on proposals about more forms of partnership with Middle Eastern countries related to technology transfer and joint development," the company's president said, according to Russia Today news channel.
Mikheev indicated that the company is studying joint production options for modern, high-tech products, days before the launch of the International Arms Exhibition "IDEX 2023" in Abu Dhabi.
He added that other promising areas of military-technical cooperation with countries in the region include joint development and production projects for air defense systems, naval equipment, and land force weapons.
He noted ing that "Checkmate" is the first Russian single-engine fifth-generation aircraft developed by the Russian company "Sukhoi".
He explained that the fighter was shown for the first time in July 2021 during the "Max 2021" aerospace exhibition.
