Russia’s military announced, on Wednesday, the withdrawal of troops taking part in drills in Crimea as Moscow signaled de-escalation in the Ukraine crisis.

The Defense Ministry affirmed that its troops and equipment will “prepare for the next stage of combat training” once back at their permanent bases in southern Russia.

“The personnel loaded armored vehicles, [including] tanks, infantry fighting vehicles and self-propelled artillery installations on railway platforms at railway stations,” the ministry said in a statement.

On Tuesday, the Defense Ministry said units of its southern and western military districts have completed their exercises and have begun returning to their garrisons.

Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had informed President Vladimir Putin that “some” of the troops at the border would start withdrawing to their bases.

Russian Embassy in Egypt refuted reports of the invasion of Ukraine, accused the United States and its closest allies of doing some sort of military provocation against Moscow.

“Russia does not intend to attack any country,” the embassy said in a statement. “Washington, which is rapidly losing its influence in the world, seeks to restore former domination and push Kiev to start a war against Russia to achieve American geopolitical interests.”

Furthermore, the embassy said it hopes that the Ukrainian people understand that they are being used to play strangely against them and they will be satisfied with the role of the animated puppet in the hand of the West.
