The U.K. government confirmed on Wednesday the appointment of the former Goleman Sachs Banker Richard Sharp as the new chairman of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
The chairman of the BBC, who is formally appointed by the Queen on the recommendation of the government, is responsible for upholding and protecting the organization's independence.
The post was offered to Sharp last month, and he has been appointed for a four-year term.
