Cafes, Shops New Opening Hours to Apply Tonight

The Ministry of Local Development will start applying the new opening and closing hours for shops, restaurants, and cafes tonight.

The opening hours of all restaurants, cafes, and gift shops including the ones located inside Malls will be at 5:00 am while the closing hours will be at 1:00 am in Summer. On the other hand, they will close at 12 am in Winter and at 1 am on Thursdays, Fridays, and holidays. However, many restaurants can resume their takeaway and delivery services for 24/7.

In the same context, the Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawy urged  shops,  restaurants, and cafe owners to respect the new regulations.

Regarding workshops, their opening hours will be at 8: 00am to close at 7:00 pm in Summer. In Winter they can open at 8:00 am to close at 6:00 pm.

There will be other independent regulation regarding touristic destinations.

He asserted that punishments will be applied strictly to attain the security of the streets, end chaos and traffic jams, and achieve the public protection against COVID-19. Also, these new measures will help in preserving the infrastructure of the state.

Bakeries, supermarkets, groceries, pharmacies, and shops that have some late-night activities are excluded from the new law of opening hours.
