Italian club Napoli are interested in signing Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman during the current winter transfer window.

According to Italian newspaper Il Mattino Napoli are monitoring the situation closely but will only move forward with negotiations if the club qualifies for the next stage of the UEFA Champions League.

Progressing from the league phase of the competition would secure significant financial income for Napoli, which could help fund the deal.

The report adds that Atalanta have reduced their asking price for the Nigerian international to thirty-five million euros in an effort to facilitate a potential transfer.

Lookman previously attempted to leave Atalanta during the past summer transfer window after the club rejected a move to Inter Milan.

The deal eventually collapsed due to the financial gap between Inter’s offer and Atalanta’s valuation.

During that period, Lookman travelled to London on a self-approved break and did not take part in pre-season preparations before returning to Atalanta once Inter withdrew from negotiations.

The twenty-eight-year-old attacker enjoyed an outstanding performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he emerged as the tournament’s most influential player.

Lookman recorded seven goal contributions, scoring three goals and providing four assists, highlighting his importance at both club and international levels.

Napoli view Lookman as a strong attacking addition as they continue to evaluate options to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season.
