A disease expert warned Europe that the third wave of COVID-19 has started in Germany, Daily Mail reported on Thursday.
The country recorded 14, 356 new COVID-19 cases today instead of 9,146 cases on Wednesday, according to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).
In addition, the number of deaths has been increased to record 321 cases today instead of 300 on the previous day.
The total number of the COVID-19 cases reached 2.5 million cases and 72,810 deaths in the state.
RKI chief Robert Wieler explained: "Europe should be worried."
He said that the slow process of the vaccination in several countries in Europe drove the number of the infections to be increased.
Britian, Spain, Portugal, Iceland witnessed decline in the COVID-19 cases due to the more organized vaccine rollout process.
On the other hand, Germany's COVID-19 status started to be tragic again after the country gradually eased the partial lockdown since late February. However, the dramatic raise in the number of infections can prevent the plan of easing the restrictions.
More countries in Europe face jump in the numbers of the daily cases such as Poland and the Czech Republic, which suffer from the highest recorded number of infections.
