Real Madrid have announced that young defender Dean Huijsen has suffered an injury just hours before their away match against Osasuna on Saturday evening in Round 25 of La Liga.
In an official statement, Real Madrid said: “Following tests carried out today on our player Dean Huijsen by the Real Madrid medical services, he has been diagnosed with a muscle injury in his right calf. His recovery will continue to be assessed.”
Spanish media reports suggest that the injury is minor and that the defender is expected to return to action within a week. However, his absence from the upcoming match against Osasuna has been confirmed.
Huijsen recently featured in Real Madrid’s 1-0 victory over SL Benfica in the first leg of the Champions League playoff for a place in the Round of 16, played last Tuesday.
Real Madrid currently top the La Liga table with 60 points, holding a two-point lead over FC Barcelona, who sit second with 58 points. Osasuna are in 10th place with 30 points.
