Qatar's Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN), Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani, underscored the importance of ensuring the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in all its stages to achieve a sustainable ceasefire.
This, she noted, would pave the way for a just and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue in accordance with international legitimacy and the two-state solution vision.
During a virtual meeting on Wednesday with Sigrid Kaag, the UN Secretary-General's Envoy to the Middle East and Chief Coordinator for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction in Gaza, Sheikha Alya reviewed the cooperation between Qatar and the United Nations.
She also discussed the latest developments in Gaza and the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly the success of Qatar’s efforts, within the framework of joint mediation with Egypt and the United States, in reaching a ceasefire agreement and facilitating the exchange of detainees and prisoners.
