Russian President Vladimir Putin told Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on Friday at a meeting in the Sochi resort that Russia will start deploying tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus after the facilities are ready between July 7 and 8.
According to the Reuters news agency, a Kremlin statement quoted Putin as saying: "Everything is going according to plan, everything is stable."
The two presidents agreed earlier on the plan to deploy short-range nuclear missiles on the territory of Belarus, Moscow's close ally and supporter in the Ukraine war, provided that the missiles remain under Russian command.
