Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart Alexander Lukashenko are set to hold talks in Moscow, next Friday, the Kremlin revealed on Wednesday.

"It is planned to discuss issues of the future development of Russian-Belarusian relations and strategic partnership, as well as issues vital to European security," Kremlin said in a statement.

The previous meeting of the Russian and Belarusian presidents took place on December 29, 2021, in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

The United States (US) urged on Tuesday its citizens in Belarus to leave the country "immediately".

"US citizens in Belarus should leave immediately through commercial or private means," the US Department of State said in a statement published by CNN.

The United States (US) does not believe that a ‘final decision’ has been made about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said on Tuesday.

“Military action could happen any day,” Kirby told reporters, adding, “It is entirely possible that he could move with little to no warning.”

Earlier, a Pentagon spokesman said that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin will visit Belgium, Poland, and Lithuania this week.

He added, in a press conference at the US Department of Defense that Austin will participate in the meeting of NATO defense ministers in Brussels and will discuss “the Russian military buildup in and around Ukraine, according to CNN.

Kirby noted that Austin will meet with the defense ministers of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in Brussels, as well as with military leaders and government officials in Poland and Lithuania.

Kirby revealed that Austin plans to meet his counterparts from Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia.
