President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Thurday a phone call from Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral relations.
The two presidents affirmed their welcome of the momentum witnessed in cooperation between the two countries in the recent period, and their keenness to expand the horizons of this cooperation to include various fields, in line with the ties between the two countries.
In this regard, Sisi affirmed Egypt’s keenness on the security, stability and sovereignty of Somalia over its lands, and its support for it in facing various security and development challenges.
The call also addressed the situation in the Horn of Africa region, where the two presidents affirmed their keenness to ensure the security and stability of the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden regions, which will reflect positively on the Horn of Africa and its people.
They stressed the rejection of any unilateral measures that would harm the stability of the region, noting the need for the commitment of all countries of the region within cooperation frameworks, to achieve stability and development for its people.
