On Thursday, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Speaker of the Senate of Equatorial Guinea Teresa Efua Asangono.
The meeting was held in the presence of Counselor Abdel-Wahab Abdel-Razek, President of the Senate, and Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic, said the President asked to convey his greetings to his counterpart President Teodoro Obiang.
Sisi also praised the distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Equatorial Guinea and expressed his keenness to enhance cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially on issues related to enhancing intra-trade and investments between the African countries and the maintenance of continental peace and security.
During the meeting, Asangono delivered a message from President Obiang to Sisi, expressing deep appreciation for Egypt and the Egyptian leadership, valuing the continued development of bilateral relations between the two countries and keenness to strengthening bilateral relations at various levels, in light of Egypt’s efforts to meet the aspirations of African peoples towards stability, development, and prosperity, and its effective contribution to advancing joint African action.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations, especially at the parliamentary level, enhancing Egyptian investments in Equatorial Guinea, improving the rates of trade exchange between the two countries, as well as supporting the development and building of capabilities and cadres for Equatorial Guinea in various sectors.
