President Sisi Receives Phone Call from Malaysia PM Anwar Ibrahim

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Counselor Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic said.

They praised the positive movement in bilateral relations between Egypt and Malaysia in recent years and expressed their aspiration to increase collaboration in economic, trade, and investment as well as the areas of cultural cooperation and educational exchange.

They also touched on Egyptian efforts to establish a ceasefire and implement humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

President Sisi expressed his appreciation for Malaysia's keenness to provide relief aid to the people of the Gaza Strip.

For his part, the Malaysian Prime Minister extended his country’s appreciation for the pivotal role Egypt played in leading and managing the process of introducing aid despite the great obstacles and difficulties.

He also affirmed his country’s support for Egypt’s intensified efforts to stop the war, spare the blood of the Palestinian people, and establish peace in the region.

The two sides also stressed the seriousness of any additional military movements that would have catastrophic consequences on the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza.

They also stressed the importance of the international community fulfilling its legal, humanitarian, and political responsibilities towards seriously pushing for an immediate ceasefire and activating the two-state solution to avoid increasing factors of tension and expansion of the conflict in the region.
