President Sisi Enhances Ties with Eritrea, Aiming to Boost Egyptian Business Presence

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt extended a warm welcome to Eritrea's President Isaias Afwerki, marking a significant diplomatic engagement. 

Dr. Ahmed Fahmy, the official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency, conveyed that the talks were rooted in a mutual eagerness to fortify bilateral relations across various domains, notably in economic, trade, and security sectors.

The leaders' dialogue was particularly focused on revitalizing trade and encouraging the influx of investments, with a strategic emphasis on bolstering the footprint of Egyptian companies within the Eritrean market. This initiative is aimed at sectors where Egyptian entities hold a competitive edge, leveraging their relative advantages and accumulated expertise for mutual benefit.

Furthermore, the spokesperson noted that the presidents also tackled pressing regional matters, with a keen focus on the security developments in the Red Sea area. Both leaders reiterated the critical need for de-escalation and managing the situation effectively.

They also called for an immediate halt to hostilities in the Gaza Strip, facilitating comprehensive and lasting humanitarian access, and championing the two-state solution to establish an independent Palestinian state, aligning with internationally recognized frameworks.

This high-level meeting underscores Egypt and Eritrea's commitment to deepening their strategic partnership, highlighting the pivotal role of enhancing Egyptian enterprises' presence in Eritrea as a catalyst for regional economic development and stability.
