President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi officially announced Azerbaijan's accession to the Developing Eight Economic Group as a member of the group.
Egypt assumed the presidency of the 11th edition of the Developing Eight Summit from Bangladesh, the chair of the previous edition of the summit.
The summit is expected to discuss ways to enhance economic cooperation between member states, and will include a special session on Palestine and Lebanon.
The Developing Eight Economic Cooperation Organization (D-8) was established in 1997 in Turkey to enhance economic and social relations.
It consists of Turkey, Egypt, Nigeria, Pakistan, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia and Bangladesh.
