Pope Francis called on Israel and  Palestinians on Sunday to engage in dialogue in pursuit of peace, condemning the recent violence in the region.

In his statements today, Sunday, the Pope of the Vatican expressed his deep sorrow over the killing of Palestinians during Israeli counter-terrorism operations and the killing of Jews in a shooting at a synagogue on the outskirts of Jerusalem on Friday.

"It is with great pain that I hear of the news coming from the Holy Land... The spiral of death which is growing every day does nothing but kill the little trust that there is between these two peoples," he said.

It is worth mentioing that the Israeli occupation forces raided the city of Jenin in the West Bank, killing nine Palestinians.

Moreover, at least 30 Palestinians were killed in the West Bank since the beginning of the month, including armed men and civilians.
