Today, Sunday, Pope Francis renewed his call to extend a helping hand to those affected by the earthquake, in both Syria and Turkey.
Pope Francis said: "I sympathize with the victims of the earthquake in Syria and Turkey, but I also think of the Ukrainian people, who suffer the scourge of conflict daily, as well as the many other peoples who suffer from poverty and wars, as a result of the lack of freedom."
In his speech, Pope Francis touched on the suffering of the New Zealand people, who are suffering from the effects of the devastating hurricane that hit their lands.
