On Friday, Pope Francis was admitted to the hospital for bronchitis treatment, the Vatican announced.
According to the Vatican, he was admitted to Gemelli Polyclinic after finishing his Friday audiences.
It said in a statement: "Pope Francis will be admitted to the Agostino Gemelli Polyclinic for necessary diagnostic tests and to continue hospital treatment for his ongoing bronchitis."
However, it didn't provide a timeline for the Pope's stay at the hospital.
The leader of the Catholic Church was diagnosed with bronchitis last Thursday, however, he continued his activities and audiences.
During his last Wednesday general audiences at the Vatican, he asked an aide to read his prepared remarks.
"Me, with my bronchitis, I cannot (read) still," the Pope said on Wednesday. "I hope that next time I can."
