US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo confirmed that his country is seeking a political solution in Libya in cooperation with the United Nations.
Pompeo said, "America's goal is to persuade the Libyan parties to reach a political solution through negotiations under the auspices of the United Nations."
Last Saturday, the US Deputy Ambassador to Libya, Joshua Harris, affirmed his country's steadfast support for Tripoli, explaining that it is not affected by changing administrations.
This came during a call with the Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Libyan House of Representatives, Youssef Al-Aqouri, in which he stressed the importance of cooperation with the council and its role in restoring stability.
Recently, the American leadership in Africa called for all mercenaries and militias to leave the country.
The Leader of the American Command in Africa, General Stephen Tonsand and the American ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, called for the necessity of the departure of all mercenaries and foreign military forces from the country.
Tripoli confirmed that Turkey continues its infiltrations and violations in the country before the eyes of the international community, adding that "Turkey is controlling the situation in Tripoli."
Despite the commitment of the warring parties to their international obligations and the ceasefire decision emanating from the Cairo declaration, the pro-Turkish militias and Syrian mercenaries are still mobilizing their forces to attack the army’s positions east of Misrata, west of Sirte.
