Pomegranates are considered as a fall fruit in Egypt. They are delicious, beneficial and can be enjoyed in many ways, fresh, preserved or even as a drink by boiling its peels.
Professor Hany ElNazer the former president of the research center says:
My medical advice for you is to take advantage of the pomegranate’s abundance in the markets because it is a really beneficial fruit. Studies show that it is full of antioxidants and they are vitamins A, C and E. antioxidants are really important for the immune system which is why I advise everyone to eat pomegranate for the next few days and weeks to increase the immunity and help resist the coronavirus. Pomegranates can be added to green salads, they can also be enjoyed as fruit on its own or as a juice.
Not only the pomegranate seeds that are beneficial but also its ground peels. The peels are really great for fighting inflammations and heart diseases. They are also rich in potassium and magnesium that are important elements for the heart, arteries and regulating blood pressure. Besides, boiling the pomegranate peels and drinking its water, really helps in decreasing the cholesterol levels in the blood.
Pomegranate peels also helps in treating diarrhea and burning stomach fat. Ground pomegranate peels can be used to treat different health problems through these recipes:
• To get rid of bad breath: eat one tablespoon of ground pomegranate peels.
• To decrease blood pressure, reduce anxiety and strengthen the heart health: drink a cup of boiled pomegranate peels daily.
• To get rid of throat pain: eat one tablespoon of ground pomegranate peels or gargle with boiled pomegranate peels’ water.
• To strengthen the bones: drink boiled pomegranate peels water with lemon juice and salt to decrease the bone density loss. Thus, prevent osteoporosis.
how to dry pomegranate peels at home
− Wash the pomegranates and empty their red seeds and inner white peels out before cutting the remaining outer peels into thin slices.
− Dry the peels on a clean towel on each side before leaving it to dry. You can also place it in a medium heat oven to be crispier before storing it in a glass container.
