Poll: Who is the most successful Egyptian in the eyes of youth?

A successful person does not have to be a superhero and could be ordinary people, who are passionate about what they do.

This is why it was necessary to see, from the youth's perspective, who they believe are the stars of various industries, including cinema, music, science commerce and mass communication, among others, through a survey.

One hundred young people were sampled in the survey.

Projects

Nearly 72% of respondents determined that the best mega project in Egypt is the Aswan High Dam as it prevents flooding, that can damage homes and agricultural lands, among other threats for many Egyptians.

It also saves water during times of drought and provides the country with electricity.

"It saved our ancestors and enlightened our lives." – Ahmed Abdel-Aall, 26, a software engineer.

"It quenched our thirst and enlightened our darkness," Mustafa Samir.

Actor

Approximately 89% chose the Veteran star Adel Emam (Known as Al-Zaeem, or The leader) as the best actor. Despite Emam's popularity for his comedy movies, but he also has worked in any other genres. 

"Al-Zaeem is a really good actor," said Amin Mohammed.

"'It's either me or the embassy in this building' is my favorite quote from his film 'El Sefara Fe El Omara' (the Embassy in the Building) as it a courageous thing to say," Mayar Ismail said.

TV host

About 78% chose renowned TV host Mona Al- Shazely as the best in her field because she stays away from politics and discusses important social issues.

"Because she is successful she cares for those who are successful,"– Mohamed Tarik, 26, marketing manager.

"After you watch her program, you feel that she lifts your spirits high." – Mohamed Shaaban, 24.

Sports figure 

Nearly 92% chose Mohamed Salah as the best football player and sports figure in Egypt because not only is he  a wonderful role model to a young person, but he also embraces the art of giving back to the community through his philanthropic efforts.

"Whenever the ball reaches Salah's feet, I can expect a miracle!" – Mahmoud Fakhry, 25, a young photographer.

"Salah has won numerous titles and inpidual honours with prominent International clubs he has represented so far."– Ahmed Fawzy, 27, a Sports journalist.

Physician

Nearly 95% chose Dr Magdi Yaccoub as the best doctor and scientist in Egypt because he is the top in his field and is working hard to make Egyptian provide families with hope through his Heart Disease Hospital in Aswan.

Singer

Almost 92% chose Amr Diab as the best singer and artist in Egypt because he isn't afraid to experiment and push the boundary of musical experience.

"He should make an album and name it 'we became young again,'" Aya Sobhy said.

"He makes people feel that he is competing with himself and nobody does that," Salah Hesham said.
