Egypt's Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli stated that the government has made significant efforts in recent times to ensure the availability of medications by facilitating the customs clearance of imported pharmaceuticals and the raw materials necessary for their production.
He noted that the expedited release of medications from ports has played a crucial role in meeting the market's demand for drugs.
The Prime Minister expressed these views during a meeting with Ali Ghamrawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Drug Authority, at the government headquarters in New Alamein City on Sunday evening, where they discussed the current status of drug availability in the Egyptian market.
Madbouli also emphasized that the pharmaceutical sector is a top priority for the government.
Ghamrawy, in turn, highlighted the Drug Authority's commitment to securing medicines, noting that it has successfully increased the supply of drugs in the market and is focused on ensuring the availability of the remaining types of medications within the next few weeks.
Additionally, the head of the Drug Authority provided an overview of the collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the ongoing efforts to enhance the pharmaceutical industry in accordance with international standards.
