The Ministry of Planning and Economic Development issued a report on the objectives of the current fiscal year 22/2023 plan in the field of health services.
Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, said that the development vision for the health services sector is that all members of the Egyptian people must enjoy high-quality health services, through an efficient and comprehensive health care system in a framework of equality and justice, and in agreement with the objectives of the sustainable development plan and Egypt’s Vision 2030.
The minister added that the main principles of the National Human Rights Strategy, the 2023/22 plan, is keen to continue activating programs, initiatives and projects aimed at improving the public health of citizens and providing universal health coverage, while ensuring the quality of the services provided.
Al-Saeed pointed to the total investments targeted for the health services sector, as the plan aims to allocate total investments for health services estimated at 54.9 billion pounds, or 3.9% of the total investments of the plan in the same year.
The report of the Ministry of Planning reviewed the development initiatives and projects to develop and improve health services, under the 22/2023 plan, including comprehensive health insurance, which includes the establishment and development of 94 hospitals and 448 health units, the establishment and development of 148 hospitals affiliated with the Secretariat of Specialized Medical Centers, the provision of 1,500 intensive care beds in all governorates. With a focus on 6 governorates: Qena, Beheira, Sohag, Minya, Suez and Giza.
