Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Lina Annab announced a new archaeological discovery in the area southeast of the Wadi Rum Nature Reserve in southern Jordan on Saturday, in the presence of well-known Egyptian archeologist Dr Zahi Hawass. This discovery is a royal pharaonic hieroglyphic inscription bearing a royal seal (cartouche) dating back to the Egyptian King Ramses III (1186–1155 BC).

The Jordanian minister stressed that the significance of this discovery is that it is the first inscription to be discovered on Jordanian soil.

Annab explained that this discovery is significant and serves as evidence of the historical ties between ancient Egypt and Jordan and the Arabian Peninsula in general.

Annab noted that this discovery constitutes new evidence of the depth of civilizational accumulation in Jordan, and evidence that Jordan was not only a corridor for civilizations, but also a home for them.

She said, "The presence of Dr. Zahi Hawass represents a great honor." She pointed out to the importance of cultural and scientific cooperation between the two sides, affirming the commitment of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Department of Antiquities to continuing their efforts to highlight the national heritage and pass it on to future generations.
