The PGA Tour, and its rival LIV Golf will be merged together after a long time of rivals and lawsuits, PGA announced in a statement on Tuesday.

The deal will end all legal conflicts between the parties, the statement added.

The merger comes after LIV Golf illegally captured several high-profile players' contracts such as Phil Mickelson, CBS News reported.

Moreover, PGA Tour announced that the players who were signed with LIV league won't participate at PGA Tour events.

Therefore, Mickelson and other golfers filed a lawsuit last year against the PGA Tour, accusing it of running an illegal action.

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said: "After two years of disruption and distraction, this is a historic day for the game we all know and love."

The merging will create "a fair and objective process for any players who desire to re-apply for membership with the PGA TOUR or the DP World Tour" after the 2023 season, the statement added.

The name of the newly merged entity was not decided yet.

Regarding its board members, the PGA's Monahan will be the CEO, along with Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan.
