Deputy Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh announced that the number of victims of the attack on a US military base in Jordan has risen to 40 people.
Singh said in a press conference: “At the present time, according to our estimates, more than 40 people have been injured,” without ruling out that this number would rise in the near future.
It added: "Iran is responsible, because it funds those armed groups that are active in Iraq and Syria and attack American military personnel."
US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby stressed that Washington will respond "in an appropriate manner" to the attack, stressing that Washington does not seek war with Iran.
