The Pentagon stated in a statement reported by the American Al-Hurra channel on Thursday morning, "Austin stressed the importance of close consultation between the United States and Israel regarding the current events in Syria."
It added that Austin informed Katz that Washington is monitoring developments in Syria, and supports a peaceful political transition that includes everyone.
