A government-drafted law awarding additional wage increases to government employees and an increase of 15% in pensions was adopted by the House of Representatives (HoR) on Sunday.
Hanafy El-Gebaly, the speaker of the parliament, announced that the draught measure will be put to a final vote in a subsequent session.
According to President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's new package of social protection measures, the new wage and pension increases will take effect on April 1st, according to Adel Abdel-Fadil, chairman of the House Labour Force committee.
