The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned an attack by Israeli settlers on the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in occupied Jerusalem.

According to a statement relayed by the WAFA news agency, the ministry views this assault as part of the widespread crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people and the systematic targeting of institutions like UNRWA that support the Palestinian resilience and their struggle to reclaim their rights.

The ministry highlighted UNRWA’s unparalleled efforts in the Gaza Strip, where it plays a critical role in protecting Palestinians from the deliberate famine imposed by the occupation, as well as its pivotal function across all occupied Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem.

The ministry has called on the international community to take stringent measures to hold the settlers and occupation forces accountable for the destruction and targeting of UNRWA facilities, including those in Gaza, where more than 188 staff members have been killed.

It urged that these perpetrators be added to international terrorism lists as war criminals. The statement also reaffirmed the State of Palestine’s support for UNRWA’s vital operations across all its fields of operations until a just solution for Palestinian refugees is achieved, in accordance with UN Resolution 194 which advocates for their right to return to their homes from which they were displaced.
