The delivered doses include 46,000 doses for the Gaza strip after the latest armed escalations between Hamas and Israel.

COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access (COVAX) is the main supporter and funder of providing vaccine doses to poor and developing countries.

It delivered thousands of doses for various countries in the region including Yemen, Syria, and Iraq.

A few days ago, Egypt received 1,768,800 COVID-19 AstraZeneca vaccine doses delivered through the same facility.

This comes more than a month after the arrival of the first cluster dispatched by COVAX, containing 854,400 doses.

To date, Egypt has been allocated to receive a total of 4.5 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine through it.

This new delivery is particularly important as Egypt is facing a third wave of COVID-19. Under the leadership of the Ministry of Health and Population, vaccination is now open to all populations over 18 years old with priority being given to healthcare workers, elders, and people with chronic disease.
