On Sunday, the Palestinian presidency accused the Israeli government of trying to drag the region into escalating its war against the Palestinian people.

In a statement, presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh held the Israeli government fully responsible for the "dangerous escalation against the Palestinian people, their land and sanctities."

Abu Rudeineh denounced the burning of the house of a Palestinian citizen from Sinjil town in Ramallah by extremist settlers, and the Israeli police storming the al-Qibli chapel in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and attacking those who are in i`tikaf there.

He stressed that the regional and international parties that sought to prevent escalation and tension must intervene and "bridle the government of extremism in Israel and pressure it to stop these escalating attacks during the month of Ramadan before the region explodes."

According to Palestinian sources, unknown persons believed to be Israeli settlers burned at dawn today an inhabited house in Sinjil, north of Ramallah, using incendiary materials, without causing any injuries.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry held the Israeli government fully and directly responsible for its continued "aggression" against Al-Aqsa Mosque and its worshipers and considered it a dangerous escalation in the situation in the conflict zone.

The ministry called for "a practical and effective international stance to force the Israeli government to abide by the signed agreements, and to stop targeting Jerusalem and its sanctities, foremost of which is Al-Aqsa Mosque before it is too late."
